However, on harder difficulties and against tougher opponents, the Dunk Meter can significantly boost your effectiveness around the ring if done the right way.

How to get the Dunk Meter in NBA 2K23?

First, let’s look at how to activate the Dunk Meter in NBA 2K23. Here are the button sequences you need to know:

1). Tap the Turbo button (R2 or RT) while driving to the basket.
2). Hold up on the right stick when you are close enough.
3). Flick down when the dunk animation starts, but be quick.
4). Flick down twice faster and hold it down.

There is a very tight window here to pull this off, and it depends on positioning, attribute ratings and defenders as to how large or small this “window” is.

How to use the Dunk Meter in NBA 2K23?

To use this new dunk system, you need to head towards the basket as you normally would for a dunk and pull back on the right analog stick to take the shot. Rather than just dunk immediately, you will notice an icon pop up with a new Dunk Meter on it that you have to utilize.

When you pull back on the right analog stick, you’ll see a circular meter start to fill up with yellow in a clockwise motion from what would be midnight and back all the way around.

Within this meter, you’ll see a green portion with a white line in the middle of it. This range is where you want to aim, with the ultimate goal being to get as close to the white line as possible.

Missing this range when trying to dunk will lead to you failing, so you will have to keep trying until you get the hang of it.

Also, there are some things you need to be aware of when using Dunk Meter, as follows:

1). Timing is key for dunks in NBA 2K23 as all finishes require the shot meter regardless of layup, dunk, or alley-oop.

2). The size of the green box will vary. The highA player’sdunk rating and position of a planet in a higher chance of completing the move. If an opponent is guarding the paint, it will most likely lead to a more difficult finish.

3). Traits and specialties like Lob City Finisher or Fearless Finisher give players a special boost when trying to finish dunks near the rim.

How to turn off the dunk meter in NBA 2K23?

To turn off the dunk meter in NBA 2K23:

1). Pause the game
2). Go to the Settings menu.
3). Open up the Controller Settings section.
4). Switch the Shot Timing option to Shots Only, without the dunks and layups.
5). Save the settings.
